Startup speed with GlassFish V2 (see previous entry) is very fast in the release version; lots of work went into making big reductions in startup time. On my 3GHz MacPro, startup time is now around 4.5 seconds, an excellent performance that is too slow only for those who think that instant gratification takes too long! Running in cluster mode (“EE”), which startups up additional services, startup time is around 6.7 seconds, very speedy indeed. Such times are about half of the startup time of V1, a huge improvement.
