TomTom Navigator 6 on a Palm 755p

After a month of not having my business phone (my 2-year old Treo 650 bricked and a number of reasons prevented me from getting a replacement more readily), I finally got a replacement Palm 755p.  One of my favorite apps on my Treo 650 was my TomTom software for use with my Holux GPSlim 236 GPS receiver.  Expecting it to just work, I bought a 4GB SDHC card for my new 755p but the TomTom software didn't immediately work.

Initially I thought I was out of luck as the software installed onto my 4GB SDHC card just fine but when inserting the card into my 755p, the software would hard reset the phone.  With a little bit of assistance from the TomTom Support folks, I was able to get my TomTom 6 software running on my 755p.  The tweak is you have to install the TomTom 6 software onto the SDHC card (and for a minute or two live with the hard reset) and *then* go here:

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/gps_nav.html

Follow the directions for the Treo 680.  Even though the page doesn't specifically say Treo 755p, this is where the TomTom Support folks directed me to and the software works just great now on my 755p.

Obviously, I do not speak for TomTom Support nor Palm Support - so call TomTom for support on your 755p assuming you hit this issue.  Just sharing my experience on my brand new 755p and getting the TomTom Navigator 6 software working on it.

Thanks for the help TomTom !!!
