Deliver your Green Message the Wrong Way

I took it with my Treo so yeah, the picture is horrible. What you can't see is an ad that states "Face it coal is filthy." This is part of a recent campaign to get the word out around colleges about global warming. By the way, that site has problems rendering for me in Firefox. OK, so your plan to make me think about how coal damages our environment is to have an airplane needlessly circle a city for who knows how long? That isn't what I call leading by example. Well I guess you have to burn fossil fuels to save fossil fuels from burning. Wait what?

Perhaps mobilize your community to get the word out on foot? Maybe even do some printing on recycled paper?

One must remember that Burning Fossil fuels is not harmful to the planet in the long term. Carbon Dioxide used to be 1600ppm in the Carboniferous period and is now 380ppm, CO2 is depleted. Of course many low lying areas may become submerged, some species will become extinct, however humans are currently doing significant damage to the environment on a massive scale, consider the impacts of development, deforestation, overfishing, harmful pollutants... Say no to the idea that Nuclear Fission will solve the immediate problem (Fusion is another story, don't get confused), remember the dangers of nuclear reactor meltdown and thousand year half life radioactive waste. In the mean time, humans need to consider strategies for reducing population and how to use existing resources wisely. One first world baby consumes the same number of resources as 30 third world children. It is unfortunate that the Global Warming issue is getting so much attention while real issues go unnoticed. There should be significant taxes and duties on products that have high environmental impact or poor conditions for workers. Carbon Dioxide is a nutrient. We are carbon based life forms, we are part of nature. N.B. I like that fact that Sun's servers do use less resources and it is a significant recycler. Oh and your right about those clowns in the plane.
