Ah. I'd keep paying the registration fees on those ones ThinGuy. It's only a matter of time until they crack and want "Clearle". I know a guy who knows the 2nd cousin's divorced grandmother who when to prom with you-know-who's sister in the 60's and let's just say...there are talks, my good man. YIP.

If you use LCD monitor, you'll end up wasting more energy by using Blackle. Not to mention that you'll stress your eyes and suffer from eye problems.
Blackle will save energy only for CRT displays (which . On an LCD monitor, it will waste more energy than normal Google. Almost all the modern monitors are LCD monitors, as CRT monitors are obsolete.
The so-called "Save Energy" seems to be a ploy by Blackle to attract more traffic to their site, as they earn money for every search made on their site.

Yes, the yellow one at www.searchincolor.com/yellow.htm is stressful for the eyes---but u never know what they like. I am sure there is a sample of the human population which loves doing search in that combination...:-)

I find the other version www.Darkoogle.com is more easier to read since they uses green text just like the old days. Green text are more easy for our eyes and reduce eye strain.

Some people may find it uncomfortable reading light text on a black background. They might find Greygle to be a better choice for them. It uses a grey background with dark text which they might find easier to read. This still allows for some energy savings while providing an easier reading experience.

Would it save energy on a CRT? Wouldn't the electron gun on a CRT still track across all three phosphors on the display to create 'black' (which, of course, always looks slightly blue). I can't see how this saves energy at all.
It's been discussed time and time again, a black search portal offers very little in the way of power saving overall. All this site does is generate revenue for it's owners which is put to no good use at all.
As an alternative search portal try -
www.regrowgle.com
Any profits from using this portal are actually put back into environmental projects to cancel out a portion of energy etc that is consumed.

I see the future of google and web search in this. Eventually the web will become more colorful (see that with cars and men's clothes???) and a site like searchincolor.com is the future of internet search. Some will like black like blackle, some will like red; u let them choose.
Environment is a different issue. You are right, probably doesn't help much in energy saving.

There is also the Carbon Neutral Search ( http://www.carbonneutralsearch.co.uk ), they offset each search by 100g of CO2. They also have a black background search for CRT monitors.

I'm using at the moment BLACKOOGLE, which is similar to blackle but offers a lot more functionality like image search, youtube search, mail access, etc. And looks nicer too, give it a try!

Considering that blackle works only on CRT it might be a waste when it comes to our new tech of Plasmas and LCD’s using liquid display…. But Energy is only 1 part of the concern, there is also the myth of the internet bandwidth being limited.
( http://news.cnet.com/2100-1034_3-6237715.html ) and various articles covered in the past few months have all been focused around how Ineternet usage and bandwidth would be 50 times more than today and the content created then would jam the internet space.
Typically utilization of bandwidth and usage is directly proportional to the no.,quality & results of QUERIES that a user inputs from the moment he logs on. These queries can be as simple as searching, or as intense as uploading. At the end of it, its all about minimizing the no. of queries.
We are trying to research the potential ways of minimizing these queries by pre-defining most searched “keywords” & “categories”.
By not entering any search query, or typing for searches you would be skipping multiple steps and help in saving energy and bandwidth.
If we all try and add to this pre-defined list of searches, we can help save far more energy, bandwidth and money.
