Top 10 differences between human office mates in a corporate office setting and four legged office mates in a home office setting:

10. Four legged office mates don't care if you shower...or not

7. Human office mates don't lick your mouse hand when they're not getting enough attention
6. Human office mates don't meander across your desk and dramatically pause in front of your monitor...just because
5. Human office mates don't lick your feet to say "Oh. Hey. Hi. I'm back. I had to grab a quick drink from the toilet, but now I'm back and I'm with you and that makes me happy so I licked your foot. I'll be laying down now. Over here."

Moral of the story, I'm begining my transition to working mostly from my home office, and there are some definite adjustments. The good news is:

I squeeze the juice out of my super productive mental/physical time of day (before many of the Sun peeps rise in my timezone). I don't waste this time getting all dolled up. I roll out of bed and start cranking away, then shower, brush teeth, comb hair, etc. midday when the biorythms begin to slow down.

And...the super frugal CFO of the Skrocki household will be glad to know that I'm saving at *least* $100 a week by not commuting into the office (the savings is probably quite a bit more when you take into account sporadic shopping at the mall near the Broomfield campus). Daily expenditures that are no longer:

• $6 in tolls
• $4 in coffee
• $6 in gas
• $5-$15 for lunch

Doesn't sound like much, but accumlated over the duration of a year, that amounts to the cost of a small family vacation....or a weekly spa treatments.
