The NetBeans Mobility Pack for CDC 5.5 is releasing the Release Candidate 1. Please report all issues that you'll find with this build to Issuezilla.
Sun Java Toolkit for CDC 1.0 is bundled with the Pack.
There is always Christmas party in Sun in Prague. This year it happend in rock club named "Blues Rock Club".
I didn't believe that all the people could fit inside the club after the experience with the last party in the same location. Fortunately, I was wrong.
There was food, beer, a talk of site director, concert of band Abraxas and more.
All hands - a little bit crowded
Abraxas on the stage
All the food is gone
I came late
ZZ TOP in action
Part of the Mobility team
Party
Do you think that the beards of the ZZ TOP were real? YES, they were. We tried it. The Czech ZZ TOP doubles have real beards...
I'm hidden behind a firewall. I do use proxy to get to the internet. Therefore I do have to setup proxy in application server sometimes (when I use the appserv) - either glassfish or Sun Application Server.
It's easy to set it up but I often forgot the parameters. It's worth to save it into this blog entry. You have to set up following parameters in Application Server node, tab JVM Settings | JVM Options
-Dhttp.proxyHost
-Dhttp.proxyPort
I prepared a short flash demo for those that would like to see where to set it up
The next version of Windows is "coming soon" (is it good news or bad news?). They call it Windows Vista. We can expect that lot of users will migrate to this new operating system. Therefore we have to be prepared for them. I tested following products on Windows Vista RC1 - NetBeans 5.5, Mobility Pack 5.5, Mobility Pack for 5.5 CDC, Sun Java Wireless Toolkit for CLDC 2.2, 2.5 (aka WTK), Sun Java Wireless Toolkit for CDC 1.0. All of them worked without any problems...
There are two new Packs available in Final build quality. First one adds the support for C++ language to NetBeans. The second one is for easier web development. Use them with the NetBeans 5.5.
NetBeans Visual Web Pack 5.5 : Visual Web Development (that's the reason why they call it Visual Web Pack ), Support for JavaServer Faces Components (drag and drop them..., AJAX-Enabled JavaServer Faces Components (even something more...)
NetBeans C/C++ Development Pack : C/C++ Projects and Templates (c++ where how you gone, I haven't seen you for long time), Advanced Source Code Editor (isn't it obvious? code completion, etc...), Compiler Support (nice, I can use only one tool for it), Makefiles and Configuration (thanks for the wizards!)
There will be one more pack soon - Mobility Pack 5.5 for CDC. We are testing a Release Candidate right now.
We are going to produce RC1 of NetBeans Mobility Pack 5.5 for CDC next week (hopefully). There is lot of bugfixes in this RC.
There is one more big news. The Sun Java Toolkit for CDC is bundled in the Mobility Pack for CDC installer. It definitelly ioncreased the size of the installer but it will increase usability. Now the Mobility Pack 5.5 for CDC works out-of-box. Just install it and you can start working. Cool.
On the right side is screen shot of the new skin of the CDC Toolkit emulator. Doesn't look cool? (the screenshot was taken on Windows Vista)
The only sad thing about the Sun Java Toolkit for CDC is that it supports only AGUI. It means that if you want develop an Personal Profile application you will have to download another emulator (SDK).
