JavaOne 2007 : day 0
|
NetBeans
|
The day 0 at the JavaOne was CommunityDay. Following opensourced project where SUN is involved in were presented Netbeans, OpenSolaris, Glassfish , Mobile & Embedded, Web 2.0. I missed almost all the session because I tried to get setup of the machines for our hands on lab ready. It worked on one server in Prague. It stopped working on hundred machines here. Thanks to the sysadmin team who helped me to work it out.
There was the NetBeans Day too. You can read nice summaries of the day at Gregg's and Roumen's blogs. I really like the demo how to use the SunSPOT to feed your dog remotely. That's the way how to use devices of 500$ LOL. Have you seen the NetBeans TV already?
What I like the most on the JavaOne is meeting with people. The users, the colleges etc. All the name that you know only from mailing lists, emails and forums are getting the faces. You can meet them at JavaOne or at the parties. I met the NLJUG at NetBeans party yesterday. It's great to see the folks that I've known already as well to meet new ones.
There was also a private NetBeans party at Gordon Biersch for the Sun folks. If you wanna meet the NetBeans developers then come to Sports bar on O'Farell close to Union square. They all gather there for an afterparty. Great to know, right? It's a small pub. We sit on the street. It was nice weather interupted only by the homelesses asking for the money. It seems that I know whole the group that lives around there
