Monday May 05, 2008 Sun ODF Plugin 1.2 available now We have just released version 1.2 of our Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office. Hi Malte
On http://www.sun.com/software/star/odf_plugin/index.jsp it's mentioned that the plugin is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian, Russian, Polish, Iberian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Dutch.
On the download page itself, there's just the us EN version available 'odp-1.2-bin-windows-en-US.exe'
Any hint where to find the promised other language versions?

Hi Fabian,
the installer is available in English only, but the UI within MS Office will use the same language like MS Office (when available),
and the systray menu will adapt to the language used for Windows.

As much as I try, I can't get it to work in Excel. After installing (and re-installing, which I already tried), I always get this error from Excel, regarding odfaddin.xla: "This workbook has lost its VBA project, ActiveX controls and any other programmability-related features". The Word plugin works just fine, though.
WinXP 32, Excel 2007 SP1 (12.0.6300.5000, SP1 MSO 12.0.6213.1000)

Hi Bruno,
it seems you have disabled VBA support:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282847
VBA is needed for the ODF Plugin in Excel and in PowerPoint.
VBA is not needed in Word.
Please let me know if this solves your problem.

That solved it, many thanks! It's quite stupid as the error message from Microsoft Excel leads one to think something is wrong with the add-in itself. Why doesn't it just say "You tried to load an extension that requires VBA support, and it's disabled"? :)
If I may suggest, please consider adding VBA Support as a requirement, and a paragraph on the README file warning people of this issue. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that got bit :)

I have installed version 1.2 of the plug-in and
in Microsoft Excel I get the "Import" option and in word I get the .odt filter.
Is it possible to set it up such that I can double click a .ods file and have ive open in Excel . Just registering the extension does not seem to work ..

Hi rajan,
double clicking ods/odp doesn't work, because a macro would need to be started. I am not sure if it's possible to specify a macro on the Excel commend line. If so, I would need to provide a special function where people could pass the document name...
