One look at the video from amazing camera and I think I've made up my mind on what my next camera will be. Yes, I'll have to upgrade my SmugMug account to SmugMug Pro, and I'll really have to get on Verizon's case to extend FIOS up my street so I can upload 1080p video at a reasonable rate (I can't believe the Verizon switching station is just a few blocks down my street, and they have FIOS going to homes farther away, how hard could it be to run a fiber down my street!).

So be it AT&T customers buying new 5MP camera phones or prosumers shooting 1080p video with their new Canon's (btw, the 5D MkII captures 21.1 MP images in camera mode), there is more and more digital content being stored on the net every day.

In fairness to Nikon, here is a great Nikon D2x photograph, taken from a viewpoint I am fairly certain I will ever get to.

Of course all these great new cameras will result in two things,

  • a lot of new digital content being created
  • the need to process, store, and backup all that new content

Luckily, products like the new Sun Storage 7000 line of unified storage servers make it easier than ever to configure and manage massive amounts of storage.

I am wondering what your experience with SmugMug is related to other sites ? I am on MobileMe Gallery from Apple.

I have not used MobileMe but have used many other "free" web sites. After trying SmugMug I would never go back to a "free" site. It is more than worth the nominal annual fee. Not only to I love the various gallery presentation styles you can easily flip back and forth between, but I'm always getting new ides for shots from them.
