OpenSolaris Developer Preview First Impressions
I burnt the download image to a CDROM (yes, it fits on CD, no DVD required). In case for some crazy reason you are downloading on a Mac (well, Mac OSX does support ZFS as of last Friday) and can't remember how to burn an ISO image onto CD, here is a reminder, courtesy of MacOSXHints.com.
Once you burn a CD and boot it, default option is to live boot off the CD. That means you don't actually have to install OpenSolaris on your hard drive to experience it. I didn't time it, but I went from start of boot to login screen in what seemed like not much longer than a boot from disk. Of course I didn't remember the default live boot password, documented here. Hint, the default live boot root password is opensolaris.
I ran Firefox and Thunderbird just to check out that everything was working OK. When you live boot off of CD, each new application needs to be loaded from the CD, which is a bit slower than loading from disk, but still quite usable. I'm going through a full install right now which was a breeze to startup. Just click the "Install" icon on the screen, select your timezone, enter a root password and your desired username/password, and your off. The install hasn't quite finished, but I'm sure I'll have more comments tomorrow.

i installed in hdd, booted fine but cant login

I was not able to use OpenSolaris Developer Preview with VMWare but also burning a cd and trying to use it stand-alone.
I've posted a comment on Jim Laurents's blog and he suggested to post a comment also on your blog.
You can find the whole discussion here:

In brief, Jim Laurent uses OpenSolaris on VMWare Fusion on Mac and it works fine, I've tried to do that with VMWare Workstation on a Toshiba Notebook with Windows XP but there was no way to let OpenSolaris recognize the virtual Ethernet Card.
I've also tried to boot from Live CD but I get a Gnome login prompt (with VWWare I get directly the Gnome desktop, no questions are asked) and I'm not able to login, root is disabled and I don't know which user/password to use.
It seems that also another user on Jim Laurent's blog has similar problems.
As Jim Laurent suggested, I'm also posting this on defect.opensolaris.org
Thanks in advance, Luca

I've solved the problem: some users suggested me to use
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"
in the VM's configuration file, and now everything works fine with VMWare Workstation under Windows XP.
I still have some little problem using Live CD stand-alone on my Toshiba Notebook, because even if the Wi-Fi port is switched OFF, OpenSolaris scans for available Wi-Fi networks, and I'm not able to disable that...
But OpenSolaris recognises the Ethernet Card, too, so I can get Ip Address via DHCP.
Thanks, Luca
