Sure you can carry around a CD of the new OpenSolaris Developer Preview and get your friends to live-boot it on their laptops, but CDs are so .. well last decade. You can easily find 1 GB USB flash drives online for less than $10, and load them up with OpenSolaris for less than the cost of two of those $6 Angus burgers (and a lot lighter). Follow Dave's instructions and before you are done with that second burger, you have yourself a live booting USB stick. BTW, neither Sun nor any OpenSolaris group endorses Angus burgers, but with the price of Dominos pizza going up, it is always good to have options.

Comments:

What about making these USB sticks available at all the Sun's cafeterias? With a 1 page handout for starting them under popular machines (I wnat it for my MacBook Pro). That would help a lot with internal awareness. - eduard/o

Definitely in the plans! Meanwhile, it is quite simple to burn a live CD and boot it up on your MacBoook Pro, as shown in my most recent blog.
