Sun HPC Consortium Wrapup
The Sun HPC Consortium wrapped up today with John Fowler, head of Sun's System Platforms group, discussing Sun's increased focus on HPC. Most of the presentations
will be available on the Sun HPC Consortium web site. Highlights of the show for me included:
Sun HPC Storage, from the new Sun Storage 7000 unified storage server to Sun Lustre running on Sun and virtually every HPC vendor's systems.
Re-inventing The Cluster, Sun called our Constellation System "future proof" when it was announced over a year ago, and the products we will introduce this week at SC08 show how we continue to expand that platform.
The TACC tour, as many times as I've been at TACC, I never get tired of visiting Ranger, currently the largest Sun Constellation System in operation. But what an even greater pleasure to watch the reaction of several hundred Sun customers seeing Ranger for the first time!
The Sun and customer speakers. From Sun's Andy Bechtolsheim talking about the future of Open Petaflop computing, to all our customer speakers.
Meeting some of the SC08 student volunteers at the Sun sponsored student party. The folks are the future of HPC.
Now off to the convention center to get ready for another couple of exciting days as the main SC08 show gets underway.
