well, my lovelies.

it's just been a super packed week.

and i don't know what time it is where you live but over here it's Miller time.

but we haven't done Friday Free Stuff yet.

and we can't close out the week without Friday Free Stuff.

ok.... so, real quick...

i got a t-shirt, a couple Java pins, maybe some pens, a frisbee... i'll pull together a nice package. (no picture of the prize package today. sorry. i'm just too beat to go downstairs and get more batteries out of the garage. this digital camera eats batteries like M&Ms.)

so here's what you've got to do to win*

my last name is Smaragdis.

the prize package goes to the person who tells me what my last name means in greek. post your answers as comments to this blog entry.

(i also happen to be greek. but you've probably already figured that out.)

if we have multiple winners i pick the funniest, or most entertaining, or most interesting. or i choose in some other arbitrary way.

i know it's lame-o, people. it's no puzzler. but it's late on a Friday and it's the best i could do.

bon weekend!!

mary

*Friday Free Stuff is not a contest. It's me giving away stuff that I personally own to somebody I choose. I pay for shipping with stamps that I buy at the post office.

p.s. Sun employees can play but can't win the prize*.

time to do a round-up of my favorite things.

won't go on and on about the Sun Ray at home pilot. you already know how i feel about that. why no updates? there's nothing to talk about, people. no issues. performance is awesome. always on. always available. totally love it. next time you guys are in town, i can show you. (offer only valid to people i've known personally for more than four months) Jeff's in town in a couple of weeks and you know he's going to get the big tour du office the highlight of which will be the Sun Ray.

my favorite Olympic Medalist:

Fani. She showed the world what it is to have a greek soul. YOU WORK IT, GIRL!

My favorite entry in Computerworld Honors-- a collection of stories about how IT is benefiting society that's archived in 125 museums, libraries, etc. around the world (including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History)

bill and bill w/Sun's medal

That's Bill (Howard) and Bill (Vass) with Sun's medal.

Not to brag, but I happen to be a Grand Champion myself...

my fair ribbons

having won numerous ribbons in my County Fair over the years including distinctions for my cinnamon rolls, roses and photography, among many other entries.

betcha didn't know that about me, did you?

i told you, and you didn't believe me. i'm a crazy woman on a mission. i run fast. you gotta move, move, move if you want to keep up with me.

Brown paper packages tied up with string...

That's Friday Free Stuff. It's coming later on today.
