got me thinking about one of the smartest guys i've ever met -- Doug Sutherland.

years and years ago, Doug was wearing Java. Together with one of my favorite people at Sun, John Wetherill, they created the Los Gatos Project -- a remotely controllable, Internet-enabled "house-of-the-future," as well as a leather jacket that housed the hardware that was used to control the house. It was awesome. Doug used to wear the jacket around.

talk about a fashion trend setter.
