p.s. No stealing. I'm going to tell you how to get one (and incent you to do that) tomorrow for Free Stuff. If you steal from me it will break my heart (and black-list you forever and ever on the free stuff).

Calling all Sun Certified Professionals! (and wanna be's)

From now until March 6, you can take the beta for the new Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 5.0 exam for $49 US. Passing the exam provides you with full Sun certification status, and you will receive a certification kit.

but wait. there's more.

We need to recruit 1200 beta testers for these Solaris 10 certification exams:

Sun Certified System Administrator Part I
Sun Certified System Administrator Part II
Sun Certified Network Administrator

If you are an expert in System and Network administration this is your opportunity to get involved in the creation of new industry leading certification exams and test the test!

These beta exams qualify toward Solaris 10 Certification, allow you to provide comments and technical feedback, and are completely FREE!

pretty neat, eh?

Can you feel the love?

Mary

p.s. I'd like to thank a really nice blog reader (from whom I did not ask/receive permission to name) for giving me this lead.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the guest judges who'll assist me in awarding the Free Stuff we've got on the table.

Meet ...
Crupi cheezing it up for the camera

John Crupi and...

Danny looking all year book-ish

Dan Malks.

These are my judges, together with .

Deepak looking all serious

Deepak Alur (who's an honorary judge).

Pop quiz: What do these three guys have in common?

A. They hold membership to that exclusive and tightly-knit community of techno celebs who are my close personal friends
B. They co-authored Core J2EE Patterns

What Experts Say about the book:

"This book is essential for J2EE developers and has helped reinvigorate the patterns movement."
- Martin Fowler, Chief Scientist, ThoughtWorks
(Read the Foreword)

"... It's just like having a team of experts sitting at your side."
- Grady Booch, Chief Scientist, Rational Software Corporation
(Read the Foreword)

"...This book will have a significant impact on your organization!"
- Terry Bone, J2EE Frameworks and Services Manager, Ford Financial (Read more...)

Read more expert opinions...

C. They've been cast in the re-make of The Three Amigos
D. All of the above

I asked these techno celebs extraordinaire(s) to carefully review the responses to last week's Friday Free Stuff and pick a winner.

They chose Alex, who wins our spectacular prize package!

the spectacular prize package

Alex's winning comment:

I'd really like the package because I think I deserve the perk, being that I'm currently "stuck" in Africa (more preciously in Luanda/Angola) setting up the national electronic payment system (for ATMs & POSs) on Sun hardware, I've even convinced the board in purchasing a dozen Sun Rays for monitoring /helpdesk purposes. The package would make my work here all the worth while! :-)

A national electronic payment system on Sun hardware and Sun Rays for monitoring -- that's all the judges (and Sun Ray Girl) need to hear to get things going in the right direction.

Congratulations, Alex! You win!!

Now wasn't there something about a brand promise....

Oh yeah!  Free Stuff is the brand promise of MaryMaryQuiteContrary so everybody who posted to last week's Friday Free Stuff gets....

really nice ink pen

a pen!

So that closes that one out...

Tomorrow we're going to have a super-spectacular Friday Free Stuff, people.

Don't get your hopes up. I think the Puzzleris still on vacation.

But I'm trying to talk Jami into modeling something we'll be giving away...

And I think we're going to be delivering on the brand promise big time...

just to give you something to think about...

shift. reload.

kiss, kiss!
