You guys,

Check out the front page of sun.com.

Awesome interview there with Sun Chief Scientist John Gage takling to Claire Giordano (whom I like to call the Diva of Open Solaris but she doesn't know that so don't go blabbing because I think she'd bristle at the Diva title).

Check it out.

Then check it out.

I'm participating in a conference tomorrow -- Blog Her.

Super excited about it. I'll be talking about the whole blogging thing and my experience and all that.

Me. On the speakers circuit. Who would have thought...

I'm telling you, people. I'm living the vida loca over here.

:-)

hey you guys!!

all's well on this end. just busy with a bunch of high priority stuff that left precious little time to blog.

#1 favorite observation of the day: Thin Guy is Sun's #1 blogger on blogs.sun.com right now even as we speak.

:-)

p.s. you might recall that I'm a long-time Thin Guy fan, having discovered him in his early days (and mine). And being that I'm Sun Ray Girl, Thin Guy's blog just has a special place in my heart (and blogroll).

Well, everybody.

Today's the day.

You know how I missed JavaOne. I couldn't go. My perfect attendance record was ruined because I had to stay put and get a hot, hot, hot, top secret project that I was working on off the ground.

Today's the day.

Live 8.

Text Messaging to Support End to African Poverty: Sun Microsystems ...
Yahoo News (press release) - USA
... and Barrie (Canada) all on July 2. Throughout the spring and summer, Sun has provided a similar messaging engine to Bono and powered ... About Sun Microsystems, Inc ...

I was leading this for Sun until this morning. Joan Sherlock is now lead.

Thank God. Thank God for Joan, that's all I have to say.

See, I'm going on a huge big family vacation that has been planned for months and months. Frankly, long before Live 8 was a twinkle in Geldof's eye.

Today, I am going to be on an airplane with the love of my life and our three beautiful children. We're going to a Meterranian island. No cell phone. No email. No voicemail.

So my hot, hot, hot project... I'm not going to even be there to see it. I'm going to be on an airplane.

This initiative -- this whole big thing with Bono and now with Live 8 -- so many so many Sun employees have contributed to it. So many people around the world have stepped forward to make this happen. Sun Microsystems is incredible because of the people who work here. And the fact that this company gives us the latitude to make things like this happen. This place fosters innovation in everything we do. Everything. See, they let you run here. They let you run as hard and as fast as you can possibly go. You don't have to keep looking over your shoulder and get permission to sneeze. And that's why we can pull off stuff like this. Because we're empowered. We're trusted. The whole blogging thing is evidence of that.

Back to the point here...

There is one guy... one individual... who ultimately made this whole thing happen for Sun Microsystems. His name is Danny Malks. He is chief architect and technical lead of the work we did with Bono and now with Live 8.

Everything -- all of it -- stands on his shoulders.

I could go on and on.

But no time.

I gotta get these kids ready to go to the airport. You should see this house right now. Total chaos. I gotta jam or we're never going to make it on time.

later.
