Explicitly and without apology a marketing vehicle MaryMaryQuiteContrary

Friday Oct 27, 2006

I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite blogger -- Ann McDermott, who is my personal hero.

She's a hot-shot techno celeb who works for Sun based out of New York. And she's technical lead on all the work we're doing with the UN Global Youth Leadership Summit this weekend -- on a volunteer basis. She's been working nights and weekends like you wouldn't belive. She's my personal hero.

:-)

Meanwhile.... I'm busy getting ready...

:-)

(I'm such a doofball. You probalby had that figured out already. But the video really gives me away. Starting to think it might not be such a good idea.)

Mary

p.s. I'm going to try to find the manual that came with this little cheap-o camera and see if I can do anything about the lighting or the quality. It has a little lightbulb thingy on the camera that looks like it should turn on like a flash or something... I'll see if I can figure it out on the train up to NY.

I am thrilled to announce that today's Free Stuff give-away is anchored around two women with whom I've got a special connection. Three really. The first two:

Jan Heiss. She is one of the most talented writers that I know. I'm not the only one who thinks so. She once received a proposal of marriage from a reader. (seriously)

Jean Elliot. She used to be my boss. When my #2 was born she came over to my house and gave me tons of gifts including a book of Girl's Favorite Stories, which we still treasure today.

What brings these two women together?

Jan interviewed Jean.

Step up the Java Technology Ladder: A Conversation With Sun's Director of Product Marketing for the Java SE Platform, Jean Elliott
Jean Elliott, Sun's director of product marketing for the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE), discusses how to make optimal use of the platform.

And what does that have to do with me?

They're at the epicenter of today's Free Stuff!

(Free Stuff is the brand promise of MaryMaryQuiteContrary. I am a marketing girl. I know a thing or two about brand promises.)

Thanks to a monster hook-up (we've got the beautiful and talented Maria S. to thank -- she rounds out our troika), I've got in my possession the most sought-after hot item of the season -- the Project Black Box give-away.

Indeed, because Maria is the generous type ...

I've got three!!

We'll be awarding these fabulous prizes to the people who read the interview Jan did with Jean and post a comment to this blog entry remarking on their favorite thing about said interview.

Play (along) for your chance to win* by following these easy steps:

1. Read the interview
2. Post a comment remarking on it. The most fascinating, insightful, thought provoking, funny comment(s) will win the prize(s).
3. If  you post a picture of a Project Black Box scenario you pretty much guarantee yourself a win.

Happy Friday!

Mary

p.s. I just love mass-ups. Project Black Box + Java Platform Standard Edition + MaryMaryQuiteContrary + three other Sun ladies = Free Stuff. Don't you just love the blog-o-sphere? :-)

p.p.s. *this is not a contest. I don't do contest. I give away things that I own to people I choose.
