Well, everybody. I've got a bit of news to share.... I'm not going to JavaOne this year.

:-(

I was planning on going. I was even planning on seeing if I could crash the annual sail of San Francisco Bay that Nederlandse Java User Group (my #1-all-time-favorite-JUG of all time) pulls together.

Not in the cards for me this year, regrettably.

See, this hot, hot, hot project came up which requires me to stay put so that I can get it off the ground. I can't tell you what it is yet. Top secret.

So it's good news and bad news.

I'm going to miss JavaOne for the first time in my career. My perfect attendance record will no longer be perfect. :-/

But I've got this really hot thing cooking that's going to be just great but I can't talk about it yet.

I'll still do my best to deliver JavaOne Scoop. I'm pretty well connected, despite my geography. And I have my ways of finding stuff out around here.

wink, wink.

:-)

Darn! That tears it! I'm turning in my tickets and I'm not going either! ;) ...Ok, maybe that's a bit much. I'll still go but we'll miss you, Mary.

If I happen to stumble on any scoops myself, I'll be sure to report immediately to MaryMary JavaOne ScoopCentral. Not that I have any clout or connections myself or anything. I just have a bad habit of not reading signs (i.e., "Keep Out") when walking into a room. :)

...And I was so looking forward to a MaryMary Guerrilla BOF. *sigh* Oh well. Have fun with the new project, Mary! Can't wait to hear more about it.

Hotter than the U2 tour?

How on earth are you going to top that Mary?

You're an awful tease :). I lok forward to hearing about your latest venture when you are able to talk about it.

Alan.

That's a pity - was looking forward to your coverage - but I'm sure you'll manage to get some stuff together for us anyway. Best of luck in the new project - sounds interesting!

Oh, that's really too bad... I was really looking forward to running into you in a Chinese restaurant again this year! :) But hey, if I'm as good with rhymes as I think I am, this sounds like more pleasure than business. Again. :D

Yeah, House of Nanking was certainly the place to be last year! :-) That was certainly a lot of fun. I'm not going to be able to go to JavaOne this year either, and I'm pretty bummed about it. Ah well, maybe next year.
