A long time ago, I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.
While here, I made friends. Incredible friends.
Last night I had dinner with three of them: Carrie, E and the Beautiful Penelope.
It had been years -- years -- since we'd all been together.
But last night... as we ate and drank and laughed and caught up ... it felt like just yesterday.....
It gave me such joy.
They've come so far... they're all so accomplished and successful... They're so beautiful and together and so... wonderful. Just wonderful.
The Beautiful Penelope.... with her courage, determination and an unbridled spirit of adventure. The fire is in her. It attracts everyone around her.
E... with her grace and her charm and her patience and her quiet wisdom... she gives everyone who interacts with her the most precious of gifts -- a sense of peace
Carrie.. whom I see most often because we both still work for Sun.... she sees so clearly... she understands landsapes in every context... she's a student of human nature Carrie knows.... long before anyone else knows, she knows. Her insight is cutting; her wit is sharp.
I drank it in.
I drank it all in.
We ate dinner, and lingered, and even as we did I found myself wishing for more time.
Just for an evening... I wished time still.
I didn't want to stop listening to their voices and hearing their laughs.
Christmas came early for me this year.
I'm so blessed by the friends I have in my life.
They make my heart light.
