you heard it here first. (or maybe not.)

if you live in Bounder, Colorado.... or if you can quick use a plane, train and/or automobile get to Boulder, Colorado by 6 p.m. tonight, you can see Click and Hack (aka Dr. Josh Bloch and Dr. Neal Gafter, celebrated authors, all-around-good-guys and platinum members of that exclusive fraternity of techno celebs who are my close personal friends).

They're giving a talk at the Boulder Java Users Group tonight. Last night they were at the Denver Java Users Group.

Gotta love those Colorado Java Users Groups! Score on landing the hottest speakers on the circuit!

mary

p.s. give Click and Hack a great big sloppy kiss from me, will ya?

Comments:

Hi Mary!. How 'bout getting the Click and Hack team to strip down and give away one of those workwear coveralls they're wearing. Guess it brings a new dimension to "java engineers", huh? :-)

I attended! This was the most crowded Boulder JUG meeting I've attended. They did an outstanding technical talk, and I actually enjoyed their alternating delivery. I think the whole thing works because (a) they have a lot of passion about what they've put into Tiger, and (b) they know what they are talking about. These guys are Sun's loss and I can only hope they can continue to participate in the advancement of Java, while at Google.

Pete, you're a champ! you get free stuff just for going to the JUG meeting and telling me you did. Please contact me using the following formula to claim your free stuff: first.last@sun.com. my firstname is mary. my lastname is smaragdis. Also,I have it straight from the source that they will continue to be very active in the advancement of the Java platform. And they will always be part of the Sun family because they're dearly loved here and just because you move into a new neighborhood doesn't mean that all the people you left behind don't still have a very special place for you in their heart.

Hi Mary, Very respectfully, I happily donate my "free stuff" to the next person, perhaps a deserving prize winner. It was almost a magical evening in the cool mountain evening air of Boulder, when Neil and Josh did their presentations. I definitely got the feeling that many in the audience were destined to head straight home (perhaps skipping the beer stop) to download Tiger, and try out that crazy stuff that Click and Hack were preaching, almost like a modern medicine show. You are indeed correct that the power of Java transcends any particular company, but yet it is indeed a single community. I'm off learning Tiger, best wishes. Pete

Hey Mary-, Could you, please, tell one of the brothers that he is missed at the "Generics Forum" at java.sun.com:-) I know they both left Sun, but their contribution to Java is still very much appreciated

Pete, Hristo: you guys are really specacular. Thanks for your notes. I need to get Click and Hack to read the resposes to Friday Free Stuff and tell me who's right (as I haven't got the faintest clue). When I point them that entry, I'll also point them to this one, so that they can read your comments for themselves. Pete, the next friday free stuff package of prizes will be dedicated to you. Hristo, I'm guessing from your name that we share a certain heritage. ZHTO HELLAS! ZHTO PATRIDA! mary
