Explicitly and without apology a marketing vehicle MaryMaryQuiteContrary

My mother always told me that people could tell a lot about me by looking at the company I keep.

(Of course she'd communicate this to me by reciting ancient Greek idiom about this very topic; and always within the context of some (sometimes not so) veiled view on the company I happened to be keeping at any given point in time.)

Well let me tell you, people, I've got a Facebook friend that even my mother would be proud to have.

:-)

Duke.

That's right. Duke and I are BFFs on Facebook. Claim to fame: he's written on my wall.

And because I am a regular reader of Duke's blog, I found out about something that might interest all you student-types who are currently locking horns with mom in that age-old "I don't like your friends" refrain.

There's a new student contest where participating students can earn up to $500 by developing a web application using MySQL and GlassFish, creating a java.net project of their application and writing a review of these products.

It might not help your mom come around as far as your friends go.

But it could put $500 in your pocket.

:-)

Mary
