Well what can I say, what a weekend of GAA !!

Saturday saw the Dubs take on Tyrone in the All-Ireland Football Quarter Final, in Croke Park to a packed stadium of 80,000 screaming fans. And they weren't to be let down either. Probably the best Football game of the year so far was dished out. Some spectacular scoring from both sides but in particularOwen Mulligans goal was just breath taking, leaving two dubs completely flat footed, selling them the same dummy, and then smashing the ball home to the net....

And it all ended with a nerve tingling free from Mossy Quinn to draw the game and send it to a replay... await with baited breath...

On Sunday the hurlers of Cork and Clare decided to provide the best hurling game of the season. The venue again was croke Park, this time 50,000 fans turned out, the stakes was a place in this years all-ireland final. Clare seemd to come out of the blocks running, and really harrassed the cork backs into making mistakes resulting in their 2 point lead at half-time. This they followed up with another 4 unanswered points in the 2nd half to lead by 6 points with 20 minutes to go. But then the Rebels decided to wake, up. Ronan Curran and Brian Corcoran were both sub'd and Gardner was moved into Centre half back, this made all the difference. Suddenly the Rebels got going and provided 5 unanswered points of their very own, Clare were running out of steam. Gerry O'Connor pointed with just minutes to go to take the lead and that was how it was to finish 4 minutes into Injury time with Cork victorious by the narrowest of margins....

I can't wait until the next installments.....

This weekend coming.. my own county is in action, Laois as they take on Armagh in another of the all-Ireland Quarter finals....
