It's all about the comments - they're really interesting! Do you ever pick up some random autobiography at the bookstore and flip right to the section in the middle where you see pictures from that person's life? It's kind of like that....

For any non-geeks out there, when an engineer writes code they can sprinkle in 'comments' that are tagged with "/*" signs, and on the OpenSolaris website they're colored in light grey. When they're done commenting they close the comment with "*/".

I like the comments because they tell you what a particular piece of code is doing, kind of translate all the code bric-a-brac into something a human can understand. Then if I squint my eyes and look at the code bric-a-brac I think, "Yeah, now I kind of see how it's doing that..."

I also like them because they're often very funny. Sometimes you can see the programmer's personal style in the comments and sense a little bit of the person behind the technology.
