Mentoring Session with Sun VP Linda Park

When women executives come to Beijing they often agree to have an informal mentoring session with our Women's Forum, and I usually blog the one thing they shared that stayed with me the most.

linda park From mentoring session with Sun VP Linda Park,on the value of mentoring: Find a mentor and be a mentor at many different levels. Linda suggested that you engage in mentoring relationships with people who are senior to you, junior to you and peers. She also suggested finding mentors outside of work, to get a new perspective.

She also told us what facial cleanser she uses and suggested we always wear sunblock. But those details aren't exactly bloggable... :)

OK Sue just for you (and the very few people who will open up the comments section of this entry) :) - Linda likes Oil of Olay's daily facial product. You know those wipes that have facial wash on them, and then you throw them away after one use? Those ones. Also she reminded us to use sunscreen and wear hats to protect our skin from the sun. She said her mom did that when she and her brothers were kids, and you know how gorgeous her skin is! We got on the topic because one of the women asked Linda what she does to stay so young-looking even though she has so much stress and pressure on the job. The cool thing is - she didn't find this offensive at all!

Thanks Melanie! I'm going to miss having Linda down the hall, although she travelled a lot and spent more time away from her home base in MPK17 than within it. I think we all know the pressure and stress of being working Moms. I can only imagine the stress and pressure at her level. It's nice to know that Linda let her guard down and shared some levity with you all. Keep up the great blogs!
