Dragon boat racing - what a blast!

Our team here at Sun in Beijing went dragon boat racing last week to celebrate our office's 5th anniversary. My team had a winning strategy, which was both completely brilliant and completely unplanned. We ran a zig-zagged course, forcing the other boats to swerve to avoid us. They all crashed in our wake and we sailed across the finish line in first place. It looked something like this (thanks Bo Liu for the pictures!) -

1. Everyone is off to a good start. Note the drummers at the front of the boat, who kept everyone in sync:

2. We pull across the other teams' paths, and ahead...

3. The other 3 boats pile up behind us as we cross the finish line.

All in all it was a totally fun day. Happy 5th Birthday to Sun's China Engineering and Research Institute!

Melanie, Did you learn that strategy from Beijing taxi drivers? :)

Just got back from a two week stay in China with my husband. Your entry about getting a license in China reminded me of the driving I saw there. We were shocked for the first day. Then we just took it in stride that we had to play Frogger to get across a street.
