Palm LifeDrive with SanDisk Extreme III 4GB

I am a happy owner of Palm LifeDrive.
Before modifications that I have made, I couldn't say the same ;)
Inspired by :
Howto replace microdrive with compactflash in LifeDrive
and
How to manually install PalmOS on a LifeDrive HDD

I have made fresh customized ROM and replaced internal microdrive with SanDisk Extreme III 4GB CF, which gived quite amazing speed-up.

The only thing that I would be aware of is the number of writes that CF can handle, but I will post updates, as soon as my CF will fail ;) I know it is not a small number, so maybe I will never post updates (I hope so)

OpenSolaris Developer Conference, Berlin 2007

Guten Tag!

At the Freie Universität Berlin from February 27 to March 2, 2007 there was first organized by German Unix User Group OpenSolaris Developer Conference.

I was able to be there for only first three days, and what I have to say is that the talks were very interesting and of course I enjoyed Berlin a lot!

Wikipedia for indexers testing

Mikkel from tracker mailing list had nice idea to dump Wikipedia to text files for testing indexers. See:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/tracker-list/2007-January/msg00180.html
So I've created small application that can be run from the command line as well with the swing gui called JWikiTextGetter.
To run it, just grab the binaries from HERE
UPDATE:
According to the wikipedia page, it is not welcome to use web crawlers to download large numbers of articles.

Glendalough trip

Glendalough is the countryside about 40km drive from Dublin. With it's famous round tower, beautiful lakes and gorgious mountains it really helps to forget about city crowd. It was first time, that I met so strong wind in the mountains, it gives respect and a little of fun.

Glandalough coordinates - N 53*00'37'', W 6*19'25''

Autumn legue - second race

Today in early morning, we had second race in Autumn legue event. The waves were really huge (for me, because as for now I was sailing mostly on lakes), so we had a lot of fun. We have finished with second time, but handicap gived us 17th position.
Waiting for next Sunday :)

Java-gnome bindings updates

After reviewing some parts of the code, together with Steven Xusheng Hou, we have posted first multipatch for java-gnome bindings. Andrew Cowie, the maintainer of the Java-Gnome project wrote on his blog:

"Of particular note are large contributions of patches and cleanups to the example code which ships with the sources of each library in doc/examples from the Sun team in Ireland. You guys are terrific."

Autumn legue - that's really nice sailing

This Sunday I had a pleasure to race in Autumn League, with really nice people from Fanatix boat. They are sailing from ages (I am not saying, that they are old... :) ) and they needed someone for the crew, for Autumn League. Good wind gave us right to be first at the finishing line, but being first at the finishing line, does not mean being first - "handicap". After reviewing handicap we had 6th place. Weather was brilliant, sunny and windy and of course after it nice party in the Howth Yacht Club. More days like this!

Our boat type is X-40, which is the same like on below picture.

Cool swing stuff

For those, who likes swing and those who don't, I recommend to see Romain Guy's weblog:

http://www.jroller.com/page/gfx

There is cool stuff and a lot of swing code, that is worth looking, especially Page "Best Of" gives other view on swing. Almost all examples are using WebStart, so it is easy to try them out.

Dublin shock :)

So, after 2 months living in Dublin, I can say, that I like people and working environment here. Of course coming to Dublin without "Dublin shock" is quite impossible, but I am lucky, because weather is really nice since I came here. From time to time I will post some pictures here, of course not only from work!
