Approaching No. 1
I've made two charts based on tables from DistroWatch.com.
First one shows comparison to No. 1, which is Ubuntu:

Great news if OpenSolaris actually competed against Ubuntu or if Ubuntu wasn't the an effort to save Africa, create world peace and generally make you feel good.
How about make measurements how far off OpenSolaris is from replacing Windows or MacOSX on the desktop. Not very fun numbers I'm sure, but much more relevant.
talking about something else: Really exciting news about the new NVidia video support for Solaris and Linux!
