Unusual Coincidence
What would the odds be if a man, from an strong Catholic family, joins the Navy, receives a command of a small boat, gets wounded in combat, has anecdotes about rescuing other Americans, returns home, marries into a wealthy family, gets elected into the Senate, and wins the Democratic Presidential nomination? That's possible because that would be John F. Kennedy. Now fast-forward 40 years. Now we have a man, from an strong Catholic family, joins the Navy, receives a command of a small boat, gets wounded in combat, has anecdotes about rescuing other Americans, returns home, marries into a wealthy family, gets elected into the Senate, and wins the Democratic Presidential nominations -- like -- John Kerry? That's about as possible as the son of a flier becoming a pilot and President just like his Dad. I think the difference here is that Joh Kerry seems to want to emulate his hero JFK, while W just wanted to be like his Dad.
