Preparation goes well
Alrighty, thenI'm having some problems with OpenOffice on my Solaris 10 Distribution. Saving documents is locking up my PC; but I was working from a honker master document.
The TLS component of my discussion will, of course, take about one-half of the time. It's difficult to compress ALL of the material and not geek out. I also need to make sure that this is not just another "handshake" presentation.
The Topics Slide for my presentation includes:
TLS, what it is and what it isnt; since TLS is the result of submitting Netscape's SSL protocol to the IETF as an open standard, it still remains familiar, but sounds so radically different. I'll go into socket-based connections, the encryption of the packet header, and a little of how TLS doesn't need an encrypted port.
How TLS Works will glide over the handshake (at light speed), certificate chains and trusts, and some details into StartTLS.
My takeways will include a list of electronic references, the rfc; and a detailed step-by-step process of implementing TLS withing Native LDAP, to include the Directory Server, the Directory Proxy, and the client. I may wait and deliver the material by CD or other format AFTER the presentation to save money.
Next will be some PAM-ing
