I have managed to load Solaris 10 X86 and create a real dual-boot laptop per the confusing mandate of a scheduled company event. Several other people here have wrecked a weekend and a meal or two trying to get this done in time.I used a page maintained by Philip Brown (props to you, Phil) and his list of xorg drivers to configure a Toshiba Tecra 9100 comingled with Windows 2000.
I noticed that the Drive Mapper in Partition Magic in W2K has been hosed as I manually assigned a drive letter and it's been changed. I also haven't figured out the c-t-d-p scheme to mount partitions and used a floppy to move files around. But it works and looks really cool. Could use a more flashy flash screen.
I'm not trying to rant, but if I was ever placed in a position where I had to dictate a specific technology implementation to a smart, qualified and busy crowd, I would have been more, uhm, "communicable" (is that a word?) and not just make it an flat order. I too, will be spending more time waiting for the feedback forms after the event to "tie on one" about this; and waste some energy that could have been directed elsewhere.
So, what type of FPS games are available for Sol10? The new Half-Life?
