I just handed the bike over to next week's rider so that's me done. I did 9 calls on the Freewheelers EVS blood bike during what turned out to be a pretty quiet week. I had one run on blue lights and sirens. I spent 14 hours and 55 minutes in the saddle and covered 464 miles. Most importantly I saved the NHS £380 (US$714). The whole team - myself plus our other riders in Bristol and Bath together with our duty coordinator - probably saved the NHS well over £1200 this week. This is tiny compared with the NHS annual budget of £75 billion, but you can't put a price on the life of the mother and unborn child that I helped out on Friday evening. Excuse me now, I'm off to pour myself a well earned beer. Posted by mikebelch ( Sep 24 2006, 03:15:32 PM BST ) Permalink Comments [0]
