This is one cool Chinese application that I really enjoy running on my Motorola Ming phone in the background. It is known by the odd names of MCLEANER or MScreen. What it does is to allow me to block Calls and SMS based on a blacklist among various other features. For eg. you can choose to allow calls and SMS only from numbers in your address book, block all numbers, allow numbers only your whitelist etc.

You can even schedule it to run during certain times. There are various actions possible with blacklisted numbers: divert the call to another phone, send back busy/ignore tone, tell that the number does not exist, tell that the phone is powered off etc. It also maintains a log of the date-time, calls, numbers and actions. It even has the ability to auto-update from a pre-configured WAP site if GPRS is enabled on your phone.

Quite a comprehensive list of features and absolutely must-have. In addition it is free. Now I can block unwanted callers esp. the tele-marketing types and recently people asking me to sign up as Amway distributor! I do not have to subscribe to a paid call blocking service from the service provider. A few screenshots:
