I have recently presented at a couple of SUN Tech Days conferences.SUN Tech Days typically used to be a Java centric event, but now the folks are tagging on a Solaris Day on the 3rd day which is one whole day of OpenSolaris talks. I visited the SUN Tech Days in Chennai, India as well as the one in Singapore that concluded a couple of days back and was overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up for the OpenSolaris talks.

In Chennai our OpenSolaris booth was always overcrowded and we were literally sick of repeating the same stuff to so many folks. There were a total of 700 registrations for the Netbeans and Solaris day in Chennai and all 700 turned up! In fact the OpenSolaris talks was thronged by at least 300 people most of whom remained till the last momment of the last DTrace talk by Peter Karlsson.

Lots of questions were asked. It was almost a mad rush. I also got an opportunity to attend the Singapore OpenSolaris user group meet prior to the Solaris day. Ed Pilatowicz gave an interesting talk on BrandZ and I presented on how BeleniX was made. In all there were 35 folks most of whom remained there till the meet ended at 10 PM.

A couple of evening snaps of Singapore that I took from the hotel balcony on the 22nd floor:

It's cool indeed to have the chance to personally know the man behind Belenix. Next time you drop by again, let me know. Let's do Indian fried-rice in Chinese restaurant in your next trip :-) 'Till then, keep up the pioneering work with Belenix!
