War World II Military Die-cast Model: Tanks and Warbirds

I reviewed the Hobby Master's Tiger I Tank in other posts: Hobby Master Diecast Model Review: Tank and War Plane.

I'd like to introduce another model as well. It is also from the Hobby Master's Ground Power Series, the German Tiger I Tank Early Production, one of the most powerful tanks in the WWII. About 200 early production Tiger were produced from November 1942 to June 1943. Distinctive features of early production Tiger I tanks included large cylinder shaped cupola with smoke discharger and pistol ports on turret.

Although not large in size (scale: 1/56), this diecast model tank is rich in features. It has a rubber tracks, individual moving wheels, and most importantly to collectors, a very well authentically detailed body. The body is painted in camouflage colors with proper highlights, weathering, cables, tools and insignia. The turret can turn and and the main gun can elevate. This elaborated model reflects every detail of the Tiger tank in the history, hence it is the target of collectors worldwide.

Other Details:

  • Authentic Detailing
  • Pre-Painted and Markings Pre-Applied
  • Fully Assembled
  • Die-Cast Model
  • True to Scale (1:56)
  • Size: 150 x 70 x 55 mm ( 5.9 x 2.7 x 2.1 inch )

Historical Background:

The tank depicted by this model was numbered as S33, belonging to SS-PzReg 2, East Front Russia 1943. In the summer of 1943, the 8th Company of the 2nd Elite Panzer Division was deployed to the Battle of Kursk where they fought fiercely against Soviet T-34 tanks.

The most distinctive marking of the Tiger S33 is the upside down Chinese character 'Fu'. There were three Chinese characters 'Fu' on two sides and the hood. All of them were upside down, standing for 'Luckiness' in Chinese. However, the Chinese symbols didn't bring much good luck to the commander, it was destroyed in 1944.

Hobby Master Diecast Model Review: Tank and War Plane

Just browsed through a web site about Diecast models of Tiger I Tank, King Tigers, M1A1HA Tanks. They not only provide beautifully finished diecast models, but also provide rich historical background of the models. It brings me back to the WWII battle field. They also has Remote Controlled Diecast Tank Series, which can be used for a toy battle. This site is worth taking a look.

One of the die-cast model I like is the Tiger I Early Production No.332, sPzAbt503, Russia 1943. Although not large in size (scale: 1/56), this diecast model tank is rich in features. It has a rubber tracks, individual moving wheels, and most importantly to collectors, a very well authentically detailed body. The body is painted in the typcial Panzer grey color with proper highlights, weathering, cables, tools and insignia. The turret can turn and the gun can elavate vertically. This elaborated model reflects every detail of the Tiger tank in the history, hence it is the target of collectors worldwide.

The tank depicted by this model was numbered as 332, belonging to sPzAbt503, for battles against Russia in the east front in August 1943. The sPzAbt503 was formed in April 6, 1942. The insignia of sPzAbt503 was the tiger head. The No.332 tank was assigned to the 3rd company in 1943. In January 27, 1944, it was destroyed mistakenly by a German Leopard at Kirowograd.

Expired or Deleted China Domains

Just like .com and .net etc, there are many .cn domains expired and deleted everyday. Some domains are abandoned by the owners, and some domains are not renewed because the owners forgot to do so. This creates a good chance for the domain traders to grab sellable domains at the low cost. Due to this reason, many traders keep monitoring the deletion (expiration) list of .cn domains and try to catch an ideal one. The updated expiration list usually comes out at 4:30am China time. So there are many all-nighters or at least early-get-up-pers nowadays to get a good domain. Maybe there is some advantage in US because the timezone difference. In 4:30am China time(+0800), it is only 3:30pm(EST). I suggest all the .cn domain traders should come and live in US for a better time zone. ^_^

China Domain Registration .cn .com.cn

Since March 17, 2003, the domain registraion of TLD .cn and .com.cn are open to users worldwide. Many people rushed at that moment to pick the hot domains. Most of the people registered domains for reselling purpose. Today, a new occupation in China has emerged: professional .cn domain trading. It is somewhat like the trading stock. Many people are registering domains for hope to sell at a high price.

Recently, google has purchased the domain google.cn and google.com.cn with big bucks. This ignites the goldrush in .cn domain again. Not sure how many people actually make profit out of domain trading, all participants with the good intends of making big money. Domains with 2 or 3 chars have all been registered. In some sense, this is like buying lotto, hoping to win the jackpot some day.

Yesterday was the 3rd anniversary of cn domain openning to public. A lot of domains expire which triggers a lot of domain traders to grab the abandoned domains.

Foreign companies who wish to have chinese domains should act early to register their domains. Otherwise, the cost to redeem will be very high.
