Le novità includono un'ottimizzazione delle performance applicative,
grazie al rinnovato supporto delle San iScsi, e un incremento delle
prestazioni dei database Oracle.

Attraverso InfiniBand, poi, gli utenti possono puntare a un
aumento delle performance di rete con una bandwidth fino a quattro
volte superiore (40Gb/sec) e una latenza inferiore.

L'aggiunta di nuove Cpu, con un massimo di 24 core, oltre alla
cache Dram portata fino a 512 Gb, secondo la società consentono un
incremento delle performance del 30%.

Il problema non è identificare la corretta tecnologia su cui investire
quanto di saper cogliere i vantaggi che i nuovi modelli di business
possono dare. Se guardiamo al mondo del software è innegabile come con
il modello open source si abbia la possibilità di conseguire risparmi
in assoluto, soprattutto rispetto al breve tempo in cui è possibile
prevedere un ritorno dell'investimento.
L'adozione di tecnologie in modalità open source ha attraversato
la fase della mera curiosità per arrivare a quella della seria
sperimentazione ed implementazione. Non è più una moda, ma un trend di
business in via di affermazione.

Da un punto di vista enterprise non si pone più in discussione la
valenza del software open source sviluppato dalle comunità, ma si
valuta il livello di servizio che si necessita e chi è strutturato a
darne le dovute garanzie.
