In my misspent youth, I had the opportunity to see some great concerts. One of the
best pure performers that I ever had the privilege to see was Adam Ant. I
saw INXS open for Adam Ant in 1983, and the Romantics open for Adam Ant in
1984.
I was poking around tonight, wondering what ever happened to him. He was a fairly regular bit character actor for several years, but has sort of disappeared. It took a little digging, but apparently, according to some Fan Sites, he has not been well. He has been in and out of the hospital battling clinical depression for several years now. I did happen to stumble upon a video of the studio session that produced the single that he and Boz did for The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. A great version of his classic "Stand and Deliver", reworked as "Save the Gorilla". From what I can tell (and someone correct me if I am wrong here), the release of that single and the other pieces of studio session that he did for the charity were blocked from release by his old record company. Thanks for the fond memories Adam. bill. ( Mar 16 2005, 10:21:56 PM EST ) Permalink Comments [0]
