Not just in Silicon Valley.
Jim's blog reminded me of another interesting conversation that I had with a cab driver in London. I was at Sun's GMP office about 2 weeks ago. The cab (or taxi if you prefer) ride from my hotel to Heathrow was about 45 minutes. As part way of breaking the ice I guess the cab driver asked me if I had an enjoyable vacation. To which I snorted since I was there for a "deep dive" on Solaris Volume Manager. No, I replied I was there on work at Sun. His interest perked and he started asking me what I did. As the conversation progressed, I was amazed that this cabbie, knew about Solaris 10!!! Even more interesting was his comment as to why Vodafone had not moved to Solaris 10. He knew about OpenSolaris. When he started rattling off the Galaxy model numbers, I began to wonder if he had worked at Sun before. It turned out that he was just a investor. Wow!! He had bought Sun stock and had kept track of the trends. He was convinced that we were on the upward trajectory!!!
Now that's a smart London'er. So sorry Jim, I think this one has you beat :-)
