NetBeans IDE 6.5 Release Cadidate 1 Available

Yesterday the first release candidate of NetBeans 6.5 was published . You can download it from netbeans.org site. If you use beta or an older build, I recommend to upgrade it.
Now there is the last chance to correct showstoppers. So if you find out a bug, please write here or enter it into our Issuezilla. If there will not be any showstopper, then the final build will be published soon.

Thanks great news!
Can we get a Javascript and CSS compressor (or packager) in the next version of Netbeans? If would be nice for this release but it might be to late for it :)

good idea. Nobody have mentioned this on planning meetings, which I have attended so far.
Now just brainstorming. I hope that we talk about the same. Everybody can help me:)
The feature itself is easy, just remove comments, spaces, new lines etc. Probably based on an option. It's really simple (create a filter for an input stream and save the output into a file).
But what will be the user work flow? Where the result should be saved? Should be possible to replace the original file? It shouldn't be saved under the project source folder together with original file, because then the elements from the file will appear in code completion twice. Or the editor features shouldn't take care about these compressed files? Do we need then also do uncompresser?
Please, is there some one who use such functionality, describe your workflow.

Hi Soso,
it was too late to add it into NetBeans 6.5. I'm sorry, I can't influence this. We cannot commit any new feature or enhancements after code freeze. Only really showstoppers can be fixed and QA has to agree with them. Just to prevent destabilization of the build before release.
It will appear in dev build.

Hi Petr,
I think there should be a build or package folder where the compressed scripts are saved. This folder could be made an option inside the project properties or an option at the time when the compress button or menu option is pressed.

Hi Petr,
I really impressed by NetBeans for PHP ...
And i have some question ...
How to add new palette (not category) in palette manager ? Because in HTML form category, when I want to add Text Input, there are no option to specify the ID attribute. So I guess maybe I should add new palette but I don't know how to do it ...
And, I really hoping that there will be a WYSIWYG feature to edit the HTML files (or HTML files in .php extension) ... maybe in next build :)

To Raymond: we need to think about this more. It would be great to describe usecases how people use it and suggest the work flow.
To Permana: I don't think that it's possible to add new palette from the UI. There has to be created a NetBeans module for this. I can advice you how, if you are interested.

I'm using 6.5RC1, and the memory consumption is worrying. Even while sitting idle, the memory usage (as reported by the memory toolbar) increments by .1 MB every second.
Any chance of having automatic garbage collection added to keep the memory usage under control?
Windows XP SP2
Java 1.6.0_03
Other than the memory usage, I'm loving netbeans! Thanks for the great work!

I would like to identify the reason why it happens to you. How many project do you have open? And how big there are, I mean how many files they have? Do you have open the task list window?

Hey Petr,
I currently have 7 projects open, the largest has 18,000 files and the smallest has 300 files.
I generally do have the task list open, but hidden. Closing that does seem to significantly slow down the memory usage, but it does still tick up while nothing is happening, which I find odd.

Hey Petr,
The project is a large website with lots of static pages, some dynamic pages and tons of images. I didn't build this site but get the job of maintaining it. Thankfully I'm working on a project right now to migrate the site to a much better setup.
