A Star is Born
47 years after Ocean's Eleven was released, the Rat Pack is still cool. The movie was hip in its day for many things including the music (Nelson Riddle) and the look. Released five years before I was born, I still enjoy it and sing-along-with Sammy and 'eo11'.
So when the makers of Ocean's Thirteen needed something hip and cool for the 'operations center' they called us, and a new star was born, the SL8500! These are pictures of the SL8500 being installed on the set:
As you can see, we added see-through doors to maximize the effect. We also made sure they had the 8-bot (8 robot version) and that it was running the latest code – release 3.11 which makes those bots move over 20% faster than before. Now that's “That Big One!!”
These pictures came from post production filming (i.e. Principle photography had been completed) and the team have asked us to leave the libraries in place for their next film: Get Smart! ... so congrats to the SL8500 on it's second Hollywood role!
Another note about the photo: the interesting silver boxes on the left of the picture are the Hollywood version of what they think a futuristic server should look like. Not sure our industrial design people would agree – but it's fun to see! By the way, a couple of interesting facts about the original movie: Bill Wilder (Some Like It Hot) is uncredited but wrote part of the screenplay. Shirley MacLaine is in it and also got no credit. And finally, in Sweden you had to be 15 to see it!
