Kevin Smith is my hero
My husband and I watched "An Evening with Kevin Smith" last night. For those of you who don't know who he is, he wrote and directed Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Jersy Girl. His new movie, Clerks 2 is in theatres now. But I think we will have to wait for the DVD as it's not appropriate for 2 year olds. Mainly because there is no Elmo to keep her interested.
My husband and I love the Kevin Smith movies. And found, after watching An Evening with.. that we love Kevin Smith. He is really funny, if self deprecating, and smart. An Evening with Kevin Smith is a compilation of moments from a "lecture series" that he did at various colleges. Places like Kent State, U of Wyoming, Cornell, etc.
The camera would pan over the audience and we began to notice something. The audience was largely a bunch of nerds. I made a comment to my husband about that, we looked at each other, and started laughing. We looked like them. I don't know why it took all this time and a Kevin Smith lecture series for us to realize this, but my husband and I are nerds.
