Put seat belts on your kids, people
I was driving home with my kid yesterday and noticed that the two kids in the car behind me did not have seat belts on. The little girl in the back could not have been more than 6. The little boy in the front was about 8. Both of them were bouncing around in the car while we waited for the light to turn green. I really wanted to get out of the car and yell at the mom. I should have had my 3 year old tell them the importance of seat belts and helmuts.Posted at 12:38PM Sep 26, 2007 by nonstick in Family | Comments[4]

Helmuts? As in the common German name? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmut
On a semi-serious note, I don't think anyone born before 1985 probably wore seat belts or wore helmets on any type of regular basis. And the car seats back then? Early 70's car seats just hooked over the back of the bench seat and maybe had a little steering wheel. Designed more to keep the kid from interfering with the driver than keeping them safe.
I still remember sliding around the back of many a station wagon. Wood paneling and all.

Past or not, there are more an more vehicles on the road now and we are all driving faster than the past... buckle up folks... even you Thin Guy. I have a good feeling that all those precious girls of yours buckle up for the cars/jeep/svu/... rides. Gota keep 'em safe.

Actually we took the seats out of the suburban, filled it with Fisher Price toys from China (you know, the good lead paint kind) and treat it like a rolling playground. :)
Of course I buckle them up. :)

Hah! You are ALL wimps. The five of us used to pile into the back of my father's light aluminum camper covered pickup for the two hour drive from Natchez to Ocean Springs.
