Nathan Phan's WeblogNathan Phan's Weblog Locked by applications I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday. He told be about a problem he is facing now. He is a IT manager in a local ship building company. These is a department of about 200 people doing design work on CAD-CAM on PC. The problem he has is how to enforce security. There been report that people "leak" out design works, via copying thru the PC. He ask me how we can help him. The first thing I can think of is our SunRay product, it is a dump graphic terminal, no harddisk. The network, USB port, the access right, can be central controlled. Which PC Windown can't do that. Look like a very suitable solution to him. But, his CAD-CAM application don't run on UNIX. IT only run on Windows. Now, he start to see how he is being lock down by Windows.
