Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Predictions

In my previous post I listed some questions that I hope to find answered in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In this post, I’ll go a step further and make some predictions about the book. I’ve re-read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince between writing the previous post and this one, which has led me to think slightly differently about some of the questions I asked. Without further ado, here are the predictions.

  • Fawkes the Phoenix will adopt Harry. Now that Dumbledore, the previous owner of Fawkes, is dead (and yes, I believe he is truly dead and won’t return like Gandalf), I think there’s a good chance Harry could end up with a Phoenix as an animal companion.
  • Harry will kill Voldemort after finding and destroying the four remaining horcruxes. After re-reading the ending of Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, in which Dumbledore explains the prophecy, I don’t think there’s a chance that it could now refer to Neville.
  • Harry’s scar will disappear. The scar was the connection to Voldemort, so at the time of Voldemort’s death it will vanish.
  • Severus Snape will sacrifice himself to save Harry. After re-reading the Half-Blood Prince, I believe that Dumbledore was wrong that Snape was on his side. The fact that Dumbledore was somewhat incorrect about the Horcrux in the cave (he didn’t know it had been removed already) serves to underscore his fallibility, thus lending credence to the theory that he was also wrong about Snape. That said, I think that Snape, unlike Voldemort, has the capacity to love, and truly feels guilty about Lily Potter’s murder (though perhaps not James’). Therefore, he will redeem himself in the end by helping Harry.
  • Draco will help Harry in some way. By the end of the Half-Blood Prince Harry feels sorry for Draco, with his previous dislike of Draco pushed out of the way by his overwhelming hatred of Snape. Although they’re unlikely to become friends, I think (or maybe hope) that Draco will come to realize Voldemort’s fundamental evilness and will help Harry in his quest to defeat him.
  • Hagrid will die. Harry has now lost his parents, his godfather (Sirius Black), and his mentor and father-figure (Dumbledore). Hagrid’s the adult remaining alive to whom Harry is closest, so following the pattern, he may lose his life in the final book.
  • Percy Weasley will make up with his family. I can’t believe that, when push comes to shove, a member of the Weasley family won’t come through in the end.
  • We’ll discover that Harry is related to Godric Gryffindor. This connection would be parallel to Voldemort’s descent from Salazar Slytherin. There have been hints, such as Harry’s use of Godric’s sword in The Chamber of Secrets, and the name, Godric’s Hollow, where Harry’s parents died.
  • Neville will use his herbology skills to help Harry defeat Voldemort.
  • Petunia will help Harry in some way. This help will include more than just allowing Harry back into her house one last time.
  • We’ll learn more about Dumbledore and his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald. Maybe also about Dumbledore’s brother Ableforth.
  • We’ll learn more about James and Lily Potter. I realize this is a bit vague, but there’s got to be more to the fact that Harry has his mom’s eyes.
  • The house-elves, or at least Dobby, will help Harry, rewarding him and Hermione for their kindness toward them.
  • Wormtail will repay his life-debt to Harry.

Reading through the predictions, I can see that I’m pretty optimistic about the outcome: Both Snape and Draco redeem themselves, none of the kids die, and Voldemort is defeated. Let’s see if J.K. Rowling agrees!

I think harry Dies. He is one of the Horcruxes. Remember that they said when harry was hit with the avada cadavra spell that it transferred some of Voldemort to Harry and that he is Voldemorts equal. well that means that Harry would be the last horcruxe and he would have to sacrifice himself for voldemort to die.

Does anyone know the middle name of Sirius' brother? The note that Harry found in the Horcrux said that it had been found by R.A.B. or Regulus A. Black? In the note, the author says he knows that is he going to die and Regulus was said to have been very quickly after leaving the Death Eaters, is it possible his last action as a Death Eater was destroying one of the Dark Lord's Horcruxes and therefore incurring his wrath?

Speaking of R.A.B.'s middle name... In my opinion, it might be "Alphard," the name of Sirius' uncle. And there's also a reliable reason: If you look through the HP5 book, you can find a phrase that Harry saw a "big locket" at Sirius' house in Grimmauld Place. When R.A.B. eliminated the Horcrux... Well, perhaps he destroyed it after he was determined to leave the Death Eaters.

Then the Dark Lord killed him as soon as he left, without knowing his Horcrux was got rid of... Just my guesswork.

Personally, I believe that Harry himself is a horcrux and so will have to sacrifice his life in order for Voldemort to be defeated. Neville will then finish Voldemort off therefore fufilling the prophecy ^-^. I would also like to add that I dont think that Fawkes will come back, sorry. Oh, and Ron and Hermione will be killed off too. That's probably why Jo cried so much when writing the book and she did say it was going to be a bloodbath. Haha and one more theory- RAB is Regulus Black. Sorry for being so pessimistic and ruining everyones hopes of a happy ending but I'm still hoping to be proved wrong.

I noticed in book 6, Once the dark mark is seen over the Astronomy tower, there is no more mention of Professor Trelawny. I wonder if this somehow has some meaning

i think fawkes will show up once when harry needs him, but i dont know if he will be harrys companion. neville will play a very important role in the book and will probably die. im almost certain that hagrid will be killed. i doubt that harry is a horcrux, but i guess he could be related to godric gryffindor. i also think that R.A.B. is regulus black. i hope to learn more about dumbledores brother and harrys parents. also i have heard many ppl saying that dumbledore isnt dead and he will come back. i say that he is DEAD. he is NOT coming back. though it would have been nice if dumbledore hadnt died, not even he is immortal.

I agree and think your predictions make sense to me. Something someone suggested to me is that possibly Snape is a horcrux. I thought that seemed rather silly until it seemed to make a bit of sense. It would explain Dumbledore's trust in him as well as Voldemort's trust.

i think you give good prediction because i have read the book harry and the order and the half blood prince.i agree with all the things that u said except the thing about snape. Snape is too evil to help harry and i think that Ron is going to die, i think drago is going to kill him and i guest that drago will find out that he was on the wrong side from all the way. I also so think that dumbledore will come to life to perhaps protect harry or to let him know of the danger that are coming. It was a pleasure reading your prediction.BYE

I agree with most of your predictions, but I'm somewhat skeptical about Draco turning around and realizing that sticking with Voldemort is the wrong way to go. It sounds like a pretty good angle to the story, but think about it - he's always ranting about his father and his father's opinion. His father was in the Dark Lord's inner circle, so doesn't that hint at the idea that Malfoy may follow in his father's footsteps? This may be especially true considering that his father is in Azkaban and that he didn't complete the task of killing Dumbledore - if he isn't killed by Voldemort, Draco probably still wants to prove himself. Plus all through the novel Draco's been portrayed as evil and full of malice for half-bloods. J.K. Rowling won't go changing his character at the end of the book, or revealing some unknown secret of his past.

i agree with 70% of your predictions. but i also think that maybe Harry might be attacked by the killing curse but it won't kill him. And I don't think that sirius and dumbledore and gone forever; their spirit might come back as something unexpected. i predict that prof. Mcgonagall will sacrifice herself to save Harry somehow. finally, Harry would get a revenge on Snape and Neville would also get a revenge on Ballatrix.

i think that Harry will die. I am really hoping that I am proven wrong, but i think he will. I think maybe ron will die to, and he will sacrafice himself for hermione, that would be cute. I also believe R.A.B. is regelous black.

I used to think that Harry was a horcrux, but Voldemort decides where his horcruxes are placed, it explains that in the Half Blood Prince. So if all Voldemort wants to do is kill Harry, then how come he would make him a horcrux, then his horcrux would be destroyed. Am I right?

my dad has practically the whole book lined out. he has tons of ideas that i like to hear. my favorite one is that he thinks that dudley dursley is a wizard. this makes good sense to me because in the 5th book, the howler says, remember my last, petunia. dumbledore has something on petunia. i think that when mr. dursley goes to work, petunia notices wierd things about dudley. so she gets ahold of dumbledore and he says if you take harry, then i will put a spell on your son to make him live like a muggle. if you kick him out or something like that, the spell is lifted and everyone will know. so she keeps him.

i think that snape is good. if you read the part where dumbledore dies, he pleads with snape. i think that snape did the best thing for him. he was gonna die anyway. he had to. besides, i dont think that snape could see him in so much pain.

snape is still evil... dudley is a wizard... draco helps harry against dark lord.. and remus dies.... ron & hermione and harry & ginny live happily ever after.....

Draco does not turn "good", but once again, he freezes when required to kill someone for Voldamort. He is just a whimp. His mistake will help save a good guy, maybe even harry

I Don't think R.A.B is Sirius' brother, surely that is too obvious? I agree that Harry was a horcrux, therefore Voldemort used a section of his soul to re-claim his body, I think Snape knows this but was sworn to secrecy by the Dark Lord as he seemed to make a rather long winded account of telling Bellatrix why he hasn't killed Harry. I think Ginny may sacrafice herself,or McGonnagol or a Weasely. I also think Neville's gradmother or Luna's father will appear to do something, as they are talked ABOUT but not very much is seen of them, perhaps Rita Skeeter will have something? All these are just thought, but i really really don't want Harry to die, J.K Rowling was on Blue Peter and said she was taking a holiday after this one, but never said it was 100% then end! Perhaps another one in a few years?

I have pondered what would happen in this book ever since i finished the 6th book. R.A.B could be Regules Black, but Sirius said he was an idiot. It is possible, tho. If harry is a horcrux, he might have to turn Voldemort good, which seems stupid, but of all ppl, harry would understand him the most. Also, since neville's parents were aurors, Voldemort may have gone after harry because he thought they couldn't protect him. I also thought that snape is good because he made the unbreakable vow to protect draco and when he barged in, he may not have known, dumbledore was defenseless. I also pondered maybe snape and dumbledore took polyjuice potion of each other, but i doubt it. I think voldemort and the death eaters may take hermionie, ron, hagrid, possible lupin and the rest of the weasly's as hostages, neville will avenge his parents, petunia might help harry as well has dobby. Neville may poison belatrix and/or voldemort. I doubt wormtail will repay harry, but the remaining members of the order and the DA may play a part, R.A.B is either Regules Black or a new character but it could also be R and B, maybe 2 ppl, i think harry may almost die, but fawkes may appear and do something cool. If snape is evil, i think neville will face his fears and beat snape. Also, harry is probably related to Godric Griffindor, but i dont think its a big deal. I dont see why harry cant just ask dumbledore's picture in the headmaster's office about any more information he needed to know.

leon: dudley probably can't be a wizard because harry's mom was muggle-born, and petunia wasn't a witch and neither was vernon (as far as we know) and even if dudley is a wizard, what could he do?

this is what i think. hagrid and lupin or moody die. snape trys to help harry in the end and dies. wormtail pays off the debt he owed to harry and then voldemort kills him too. i think R.A.B. is Regulus Black. i think sirius comes back, and he never was dead for real, just trapped on the other side of the veil. dumbledore is dead, because if he wasn't then snape would be, cause then he had broken the unbreakable vow and ron said if you break it you die. i also think the ginny will play a major role cause in each book she is becoming more and more powerful and talented and is turning into a very great witch. here is what i think will happen in the end: harry is a horcrux because voldmort knew that if he was to be killed, then so was harry, so that would automatically ensure that harry would have to die. and what would he care if one more horcrux was gone if it ment that harry potter was also gone? so i think in the end that harry lets voldemort kill him cause then he would sacrifice himself to save the others, but i think that voldemort thinks that if harry survived the killing curse once, then maybe he could do it again, so he kills him by letting the snake that attacked arthur weasly in book 5 to kill him, and then neville kills voldemort, (therefore fullfilling the prophecy). but then faux saves harry because remember? phoenix tears can heal anything! so then blah blah blah harry becomes an auror, harry and ginny end up together, and ron and hermione, and lupin and tonks. oh a also harry goes back to hogwarts in the beginning. and i think petunia dursley is a squib. and that is why she knows that stuff about the wizarding world and why she was in touch with dumbledore.

nice predictions too many people are spreading crap though - harry has some of voldermorts soul inside him BUT harry is not a horcrux. but the overall meaning is very similar - his soul got in harry by accident not on purpose. voldykins is not a horcrux - it is his soul thus he is not a horcrux

Having read this idk how old it is, but i just finished the book and you are at least 50-60% right. Some things are true. some arent' won't spoil it for ya though. and @ voldypoo, sirius's body disappeared because he fell into that mirror thing. thats why. trapped there forever im afraid. and @ sam. you're a moron. hermione didn't have witch/wizard parents and she's the most talented of them all. If duddley was a wizard he'd have gone off to hogwartz when he turned 11. and i think voldemort would deflect the bullets -_- with uh...magic?

yes, i've finished the book as well, and i am curious as to who was the one who performed magic late in life? did anyone catch that? because i certainly didn't. overall, i thought this book was okay. the ending was fabulous, but the whole sequence of events throughout the rest of book was (stop reading if you haven't finished the book!) ................. pure luck. everytime they got into trouble they were saved by some stroke of fate. there's no real skill or talent. the hero is just plain lucky. some other questions that i would like answered that weren't in the book are: 1) whatever happened to the dursleys? 2) what did dudley see when the dementors came at him in book 5? 3) what does harry do for a living? ron? hermione? ginny? 4) why did jkr never justify or try to erase the horrible deeds done by harry's father? there is never any mention of remorse, yet harry still sees james as a hero despite everything else. and everyone else throught he was fine too, even though he tortured poor snape. 5) why did everyone believe remus lupin liked lily? well, i feel a sense of loss at the idea that i will never ever again have the blissful feeling of not knowing what comes next in a harry potter book. an era has ended. and i can only hope that the next generation loves this series as much as this generation has, because it is pure magic. the harry potter series is a testament to the power of imagination, because it was one woman on a delayed train who had perseverance that the entire world rejoices and mourns in the definitive ending of harry potter.

it's obvious actually... of course Harry did not die and Voldemort's dead. Otherwise, the ending would have really sucked. I didn't like the epilogue much though. I wished JKR could have elaborated more.

Trying not to give too much away but how did Neville come to have the sword at the end? It was last heard of at Gringotts or did I miss something? Also thought the Lupin/Tonks outcome was particularly hard!

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!! Nooooo poor Fred!! I balled my eyes out at the end of this book, some of the deaths were incredibly harsh! (was REALLY not expecting that to happen to Fred) although I was expecting a lot more characters to be bumped off. JK really enjoys tearing apart the families though :( I was hoping for Harry to adopt Remus's kid and be the kind of godfather Sirius always tried to be for him and so on, but it didn't sound like that happened in the epiloge. LOOOVED the whole Snape and Lilly thing though, I always thought he'd turn out good in the end ^_^ even after the whole Dumbledore killing at the end of the 6th, but I began to have my doubts after what happened in the first chapter of Deathly Hollows, but turns out he is good after all so YAY! WOOOPE!! I LOVE SNAPE!! SNAPE FOREVER ^_^" you go Snapey!! I am however wondering how all the younger little kiddies will take the bloody death scenes, some of them are quite disturbing for what started out as childrens stories. However i loved the book and the way the series has become gradually darker as Harry has grown up. Cant wait to see what comes next for JK, if anything at all, wouldn't blame her if she just jetted off to a nice little condo in the Bahamas lets face it she's minted :)

Hey Peachy he was a godfather like sirius to Teddy cause it says earlier that he wanted to be everything like sirius and he said in the epilouge that they were going to have Teddy move in with him. I think it was really well done! (if you haven't read the book then stop reading NOW!! it would suck if i spoiled it for you!!) i thought it was really sad that Fred died. But not as sad as Lupin and Tonks! I totally balled my eyes out! i think JKR should have explained more in the ending though. Like maybe what happended to all the other people who helped out fighting. And i was suprised to hear that snape wasn't bad! but JKR really had a satisfying ending to a wonderful series!! I totally LOVED the epilogue 19 years later thing cause it was so happy! i think that Harry should have had one more kid and named it Sirius if it was a boy! that would be perfect! i totally LOVED this book! FAVORITE OF THEM ALL!!

can someone intelligent explain everything about "remember my last, petunia"? im re-reading and it is killing me.

i too was really sad about fred. (i'm a twin and i know what that kind of intense remorse would feel like. but then again everybody would feel like they know the weasley twins tahnks to the in depths of jkr)
