If all of your users demonstrated that kind of enthusiasm Sun would never have a worry.

Awesome!

Brian, you should teach your children how to compile Mplayer or VLC Media player from source on OpenSolaris so that they can use it to watch kids shows like "Sesame Street", "Barney and Friends", "Dora the Explorer", "The Wiggles", or whatever it is that kids are watching these days. The OpenSolaris community could really use another generation of software porters ;-)

The only possible drawback is that I'm not sure if it's 100% legal to compile your own Mplayer or VLC from source in the U.S.A,, is it?

My 9 year old daughter came into my office the other day when I had some source code on the screen and asked "Dad, what's that?" It made my heart melt.

As far as I understand it, if the source code is available you're free to compile and use the result. What you are not at license to do is redistribute the result.
