Today Sun announced a deal with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop microchip interconnectivity via on-chip optical networks enabled by silicon photonics and proximity communication. Translation: It's like a supercomputer on a chip.
This technology will allow applications like energy exploration, biotechnology and weather modeling to be accomplished with less power use and less expensive investment in silicon.
The contract with DARPA extends for five and a half years, with more than $44M of funding coming to Sun.
John Markoff of the New York Times covered it in today's edition. Check out his article here.
Today Fortune Magazine published its "America's Most Admired Companies" list
online. Sun’s ranking within the computers industry jumped to #5 on the admired list
and our scores improved by nearly every measure. Among the
most dramatic improvements included a jump of three places in the quality
of management and use of corporate assets categories as well as a two position
increase people management. We scored #2 in innovation, a great nod to our focus on innovation across our products and operations.
Way to go, Sun!

its location on the Internet, and opens the possibility for
ISVs and developers to offer new services that are mashups of data and
services from multiple sources.
Finally, we are announcing limited Beta program

enterprise data center.
Users signing up for a Network.com

We are now featureing customer reviews and ratings directly from
