LinuxTag VideoCast

Ian Murdock and Donatus Schmid

I wanted to share some of the daily activities from LinuxTag in a way other than snapshots of the conference posted to a site. There is a wonderful open source service call Animoto. Here is my second attempt at producing a video. Live from Berlin.

About Animoto.
Animoto Productions is a bunch of techies and film/tv producers who decided to lock themselves in a room together and nerd out. Their first release is Animoto, a web application that automatically generates professionally produced videos using their own patent-pending technology and high-end motion design. Each video is a fully customized orchestration of user-selected images and music. Produced on a widescreen format, Animoto videos have the visual energy of a music video and the emotional impact of a movie trailer.

Over the weekend, the "Big Buck Bunny" movie was released online. It is an "open movie" -- a very interesting concept. And we were a part of it!

The LinuxTag conference is in full swing. I meet up with Nathan Eddy with Channel Web, he is now in Berlin. Funny traveling around the globe to meet someone that you speak with frequently on the phone. He interviewed several folks from Sun. Here is his recent post with Charlie Boyle.

LinuxTag 2008 began on Wednesday 28 May in Berlin and has been a whirlwind of activities. I've created an animated video as my first entry.

Hope you enjoy.
