After several months of testing, the Sun Java Real-Time System version
2.1 (Java RTS 2.1) is now available. The Java RTS gives users
unprecedented control over their Java code execution including thread
priorities and whether or not an activity should be interrupted by
garbage collection.
This release adds long-awaited real-time Linux support as well as improved tooling support for:
* Solaris 10
* SUSE Linux Enterprise Real-Time 10 (SP2)
In addition, support for Red Hat Enterprise MRG 1.0 Errata will be available soon.
More information including media clips, FAQs and technical details can be found on the Java Real-Time System homepage.
Eric Bruno from Dobb’s Code Talk gives a good description of the release in his blog.
