Rich Green was in NYC this week addressing analysts, and he gave
them a preview of some interesting Solaris technology on the horizon.
Known internally as Etude, the Solaris 8 Migration Assistant allows
Solaris 8 applications to run in Solaris 10 Containers.
This is great news to customers still running Solaris 8, because it
will make it easier to migrate to Solaris. Other customers may want to
consolidate an older Solaris 8 application on a newer, more efficient
hardware platform. The product is now in Beta, and will be available
later this year.
