On Tuesday, Oct 23rd, James participated in a panel at the OOPSLA
conference in Montreal, Quebec to discuss programming's
past, present and future.
Then on Oct 24th, also in Montreal, the faculty of Engineering
and Computer Science at Concordia University held a ceremony to give James the Award of
Distinction in Computer Science. James was recognized as a
distinguished member of the engineering and computer science
communities and for his contributions, both nationally and
internationally, to the advancement of their profession and society as
a whole.

And then to wrap up the week, James was officially
named to the Order of Canada. The 100th ceremony of the Order of
Canada was held this morning (Oct 26th) at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
The Order of Canada is Canada's highest civilian honour, recognizing
lifetime achievement and people who have demonstrated excellence,
courage or exceptional dedication to service in ways that bring special
credit to the country.
