You may recall Sun demonstrating JavaFX Script at the 2007 JavaOne conference. JavaFX Script is a highly productive scripting language that enables content developers to create rich media & content for deployment in Java environments.

For a refresh on what JavaFX is, visit Jonathan's blog.

On the openjavafx site we've got 2 new demos that showcase the capabilities of JavaFX Script & the tie-in between graphic artists & developers.

Casual is an Instant Message (IM) client written in JavaFX. Cool thing about this is that it's WAY more visual than the typical IM client b/c a graphic artist created the artwork & then a programmer developed the application. Check out this screen shot:

SVG Translator allows graphic artists to design content in Adobe Illustrator & for the first time, the Illustrator file can be pulled into an SVG browser & manipulated via JavaFX. Chris has some comments on this demo as well. Here's an example of what it looks like:

Comments:

That SVG translator looks a bit squashed (on OSX Safari) - is it?
